What Tutors Need to Know
Fees & Payment:
WordChamp allows you to decide how much to charge for your tutoring session. This amount will appear in your advertisement for students to see.
There is no charge to tutors to post ads, recruit students, or use our language learning tools and activities. However, students are required to pay a small fee (US$5.95) as a deposit before scheduling a tutoring session. By receiving this payment in advance of their session with you, we are also helping to confirm that the student is able to make an online payment by credit card or through PayPal.
Upon completion of the tutoring session, WordChamp provides instructions for sending a payment request to the student through PayPal. Although WordChamp facilitates this final transaction, responsibility for payment rest entirely upon the student. WordChamp does not claim any portion of your specified tutoring fee for itself, nor is WordChamp responsible for student non-payment. For more information on this matter, please visit our Terms and Conditions.
Connecting with Students:
Once your Tutor Profile is complete, WordChamp automatically publishes your information for students to find you and schedule a tutoring session. When a student schedules a session, WordChamp will facilitate initial confirmation of the session between you and the student via email.
Upon completion of your tutoring session, WordChamp will facilitate closure of the session via email, by first confirming with you that the session took place. Next, WordChamp will provide instructions on requesting payment for the session. We also ask students to rate the session. Ratings will appear in your tutor advertisement, and positive ratings will boost your ranking in our search feature.
Contacting Students Outside of WordChamp:
In the spirit of providing our tutor program for free to tutors, we ask that you do not allow prospective and returning WordChamp students to schedule sessions outside of WordChamp, as this circumvents the nominal fee we receive from the student. As such, we also ask that you refrain from posting personal contact information, such as an email address, phone number, website, physical address, etc., in your Tutor Profile. In accordance with our Terms and Conditions, we reserve the right to remove this information from a Tutor Profile without advance notice.
We have chosen to structure student fees in this manner so that our tutors can realize 100% of their desired earnings, without incurring any out-of-pocket expenses to recruit new students from our community. The flat amount we charge as a deposit before the session allows us to continue providing this service for free to all of our tutors. We thank you for your cooperation.
