Uploading Flashcards print this page
In addition to adding flashcards through the WordChamp authoring tool, it's also possible to upload them directly from a text file. This can be useful when you've already created vocabulary lists for your class, and already have them electronic format.
This document contains instructions for:
Setting Up the Correct Flashcard Format
WordChamp is able to read text files only. It can not read Word, Excel, or PDF files. When WordChamp reads a file, each flashcard needs to be on one line, and the flashcard's words need to be divided into different languages. Here are some examples:
dog = el perro
cat             el gato       (in this example, the words are separated by a tab)
If there are multiple possible answers for a flashcard, then you should separate them with semi-colons. Here are some examples:
great; fantastic = fantástico
to do; to make = hacer
car; auto = el carro; el automóvil
If you are entering Japanese or Chinese, you should also enter the hiragana or pinyin for characters. You can do that by separating the characters from the reading with a "|". For example:
person = 人 | ひと
If there are multiple possibilities, you can enter them by separating them with a semi-colon:
person = 人 | ひと ; 方 | かた
